ITU Faculty of Mines — Principles of the Graduation Project
These principles were established at the 52nd meeting of the Faculty Board, dated 18 March 1998, pursuant to Article 5 of the "Senate Principles on the Undertaking, Submission, and Examination of the Graduation Project," taking into account the specific characteristics of the Departments of our Faculty.
- In the Departments of our Faculty, the assignment of Graduation Project topics may also be carried out in the 6th semester with the approval of the student's advisor.
- Graduation Project topics should be of a nature that requires the student to apply most of the knowledge acquired in the professional courses taken during their education. Graduation Projects should not be assigned on highly specialized topics.
- Depending on the characteristics of the Departments, the Graduation Project may be carried out in the field, in operating plants, in pilot plants, or in laboratories.
- During a topic-assignment period, a faculty member may undertake to supervise the Graduation Projects of at most three students. However, where necessary, this number may be increased by a decision of the Departmental Board.
- The Graduation Project shall be submitted to the Dean's Office within the prescribed period, in accordance with the process set out in the documents below.
- The Graduation Project Examination is conducted by an examination committee composed of one faculty member selected from each Division (Anabilim Dalı) affiliated with the Department, as determined by the advisor and the Departmental Board. However, the number of committee members may not be fewer than three.
- With the approval of the Departmental Boards, Graduation Projects may be carried out jointly between Departments.
- In matters not addressed in these Principles, the "Senate Principles on the Undertaking, Submission, and Examination of the Graduation Project" shall apply.
- These Principles shall take effect as of 18 March 1998.
